i recently noticed, when browsing servers
out of the some hundred servers that are up for sven
onlly 20-30 servers actually had atleast one person playing
showing me that sven i dieing
i've stopped playing
i noticed people like ninja and ry-man
and many other people i used to play with a few months ago rarely ever go on sven
its always ns or tfc or l4d or some other online game that must be more fun
i personly have gotten really bored
+ i feel like a noob when ever i go on due to my low lvl
and a recent increase of noob players and newer maps no one has ever heard of that only noobs play

the only reason i've been gone was because i was mostly playing on another console, i'm starting to come back on again along with sven.
but i do agree that sven is getting....boring. maybe if they add something new or if beta 2 comes out soon or what.

Well, theres a lot of reasons i don't play Sven anymore. Sven Coop 4 beta 1 is glitchy as hell, im sick of playing the same maps over, and over, and over again, and i FUCKING HATE the new people. This actually happened to me once:

*gets killed* (some random douche) "HAHA YOUR A FUCKING NOOB!" (he was like level 3). Then he saw a HWGrunt and hes like "OMFG WTF?!??!?!?!??!?!?! THEY HAVE MINIGUNS THATS BULLSHIT!"

when about 85% of the sven coop population is like that, thats when i say fuck it and leave. And im sure im not the only one sick of these people

Never had that happen to me playing sc... probably a cs player. The only game in which I've been called a noob in is css(haven't played cs that much.). The majority of the sc community hates cs players because of stuff like that.

hw grunts arent even hard to kill
unless they have modded health and you have fairly low health

In fact, CS players should feel right at home if anything. Jump, and spray and mostly everything is dead.

I've been very busy with finals and papers. By Thursday it will be all over and woot summer break.

three as a counter-terrorist, the gun that gets me is an ak 47, or whatever its called in the game, and from a distance where i couldn't posslby kill them, but, you know, they hack, and vavle has probably stopped trying to update vac to stop new hacking technices

1: in the VGUI buy menu, its called a CV-47. but ALWAYS call it a AK-47

and 2: the AK is really overpowered, so dont be suprised.

Thats why you NEVER run and gun (except with some pistols and SMG's) and try to fire in bursts

for cs/css and many other games, single shot has the best acuracy, spraying won't get you very good acuracy.

well some guns arent meant for accurate shooting and meant for spraying

Sven has been going through fluctuations of popularity like this for...well, geeze, since I started playing it back in 2003. That's why it's especially important for popular servers like CozmicShredder, Rabidsnark, and, of course, Cartman's, to build up a community. Some of the bigger folks in the server hosting racket tend to have multiple kinds of servers up, but that can lead to all sorts of other complications.

At any rate, Sven has been one of the top mods on ModDB for ages, and it will continue to do so, I'm certain. There's just something about its particular style of co-op play that isn't found in CS, or TF, or even Synergy (the closest thing HL2 has to a real co-op mod, afaik).

If the Sven crew ever decide to give up on the HL1 engine and focus on the HL2 engine, there's a good chance the old svencoop servers will start to die out. But as long as they are around, there will be players. Just remember that it goes in cycles.

Also if you get a whole lot of annoying noobs spouting CS-er bullcrap, please let us know so we can keep an eye on them.

For fluctuations, sc generally gets more players in the summer and some in the late part of the year, when school kids are on there breaks.

Probably one of the things that makes sc more popular then synergy is that, there aren't features in the game that penalize players(some are quite bad, like the map restart after everyone dies...) for not co-op'ing. also for a map to be good in source you have to be better with designing the map geometry then map game play, it's sort of the other way around in goldsrc, maps with good game play are generally better then those with nice geometry. Since a lot of mappers aren't very good with making a map look good, a lot of maps in synergy can look and even play worse then sc maps.

If the sven crew did a better job on a hl2 coop mod then synergy then some people would probably like that mod too, those with fast enough computers to play it.
