I wouldn't be able to record vids on my comp, because of my single core proccesser, as soon as I start recording the fps goes straight to 6-8 fps.

SC videos are always a good thing A little short... perhaps you could condense them into larger videos with some transitions between the clips? And are they supposed to be silent? (not trying to hi-jack your thread, but I'm going to take it a little further off-topic) EDIT: I removed OT content and moved it to it's own thread

I hadn't thought of combining them. I have unregged fraps so I can only record 30 sec vids and I don't know whats wrong with the sound it doesn't record the game sounds and what sounds it does are extremely low (i have to turn my volume all the way up) and even then it sounds like it recorded the tv that waz on in the background of my game instead. Go figure.

It's funny you mention that. I'm running a hyper-threaded CPU* and as far as I can tell, with non-Source games (they don't support HT), I'm only using 1 logical processor for SC. I've tried Fraps and it works okay with mine, but I do notice a huge drop in FPS. I haven't run any tests with Fraps, but here's a shot of Task Manager when running SC: I found it interesting that map-change actually utilized the other logical processor more than in-game, but I'm hardly ever the first person in after map-change... half-life, half-life2, and ep1 don't support dual core or quad core cpus(they're single threaded processes.) so it would only use one core for the game. If your game were to read something off of the hd, through steam or through the swap it would probably use the other core so you'd see a little activity on the other core from that. impcnrd wrote: if you have a really good single-core cpu you shouldn't have many problems + there is other desktop recording programs that run faster and without xfire fraps is one I run at the 1680x1050 resolution so even at half res it would severely slow down my game.

FPS drops when you are recording because FRAPS or what ever recorder you're using is trying to record the sound, and visuals of the gameplay, which makes your FPS slower. I can make a video too, using FRAPS, but i can record as long as I want and no watermark. Yes.

I decided to stop hi-jacking this thread and start my own because: SC videos = usually cool and fun CPU discussions = usually dull and boring for most people viewtopic.php?f=3&t=400
