This might be a dumb question, but it's one I've never had to ask before anyway.
The worst video card from nVidia that works with Fallout 3 is the GeForce 6800, according to Fallout 3's minimum requirements. The integrated nVidia NVS Quadro 140M in my laptop appears to work as well as a GeForce 6800, however integrated graphics are not listed on the list of video chipsets that Fallout 3 supports. So the question is, can my laptop work with Fallout 3? I just wanted to make sure before I shelled out $50.

Does your card use pixel shader 2.0 or 3.0? The game needs a ps3.0 card or above. Because I have a ps2.0b card I wouldn't be able to run that game.

I don't know if this is right, but it looks like my graphics card does DirectX 10 and Shader 4.0. Also, the Left 4 Dead demo doesn't work. Someone post in the next 5 hours, please. =/ I'm getting the failed to create d3d device error, and I do have the latest driver for my card. (Which steam still says is outdated.) Can you run Ep2 Source? L4D is on the EP2 source (CS:S, Portal, TF2, DoD:S all run on ep2 source as well)

I could before, and thanks but I got L4D to work by avoiding the default resolution through a command line.

Link: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... _faqid=772Mobile gfx(labtop gfx) aren't really supported very well in games, and it's about 30-40% slower then my x800xt in doom3. How old are the drivers you have? and is your game running in a different resolution then your desktop, sometimes source fails to change the resolution and crashes, had that problem a few times in the past, had to run the game in the same res as the desktop or it wouldn't run. [edit] didn't see your post lol. I've had the problem in the past of the desktop resolution getting locked when using xfire, so you have you run the games at the same res as the desktop, I don't have that problem anymore though. [/edit]

It's good to know my computer works with Fallout 3, but I might just buy L4D instead. =/

was to lazy to read every post so don't drill me if the l4d problem is solved one thing you could do is create an l4d shortcut and in the "target" box put AFTER c:/program files/steam/steamapps/<user name>/<l4d directory> put "-gl 1280 1024" i do not know if its completely correct nor do i know if it will work with source its a half-life thing or you could try
-autoconfig
instead

I did something similar to solve the problem, but thanks anyway. And that extension wouldn't work because I use 1440x900 resolution.
