My main issue is Texturing my map, I cannot select a single face of a brush. Actually I cannot select ANYTHING in the 3D view...
I've tried everything and looked everywhere for a way to fix this but I just can't figure it out.

The best I can do is select a brush in any view other than 3D and texture the whole brush.... and it just sucks...

Does anyone know what is causing this?

um click the select button
if thats not it
just download another copy of hammer
the one problem this option has is you have reconfigure hammer

I don't know how to do per face texture application either. as far as I know you can't select anything in the 3d view like you can in source hammer.

I saw a video of this guy making a map for Sven co-op and he was just zipping along clicking away like it was nothing, it was definitely HL1 engine, it made me so mad how easy he made it look XD Maybe I'll try emailing that guy...

easy, get a unregistered hypercam 2, the video isnt that great and i cant figure out how to record sound, but it works. Id use FRAPS but i can only record games and for 30 seconds, but gives me my FPS, will i enjoy

XD I had the selection tool on, I'm not that blind.

I tried getting a new .exe for hammer, did not work....

I tried upgrading to hammer v3.5, Did not fix anything...

So, any map I ever make will have random texture errors all over the place since I can only "fit" one side of a block to look right (unless it's perfectly square) and the other sides will look stretched/squished/out of place no matter what I do >.>....

Not to mention how horribly hard it is to select the right brush when you have several bunched together in the 2D views...

I don't understand how anyone could make a decent looking map with a problem like this...

Do you have an ati graphics card? I've read somethings about the newer drivers screwing up hammer. you should try going back to 7.08 version drivers if you have an ati card. I have an ati card with newer then 7.08 drivers and I'm not able to select things in 3d view.
